Good Luck With That

Via Breitbart:

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – The parents of American-born Taliban fighter John Walker Lindh are asking President George W. Bush to set their son free before Bush leaves office next month.

Lindh was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in 2002 to serving in the Taliban army, which violated U.S. economic sanctions against Afghanistan at that time.

At a news conference in San Francisco Wednesday, Lindh’s mother, Marilyn Walker, asked the president to show mercy during the Christmas season by commuting her son’s sentence.

Lindh initially asked for a commutation in 2004 and his lawyers have renewed the request each year.

The U.S. Department of Justice has never acted on the petition and a spokeswoman didn’t immediately return a telephone call.

Well, we can now see where Lindh’s got his skewed perception of reality.

They do realize which President they’re dealing with right? Gitmo? Invading all willy-nilly? It’s all about OIL!

Any of this ring a bell?

Here’s how Hollywood would have filmed it, back in the day:

JWL: Did the President call with my pardon?

Burly Guard: Yeah, I got your pardon right here. [Whips out Louisville slugger. Camera pans to bare bulb swaying from ceiling while the audience hears meaty thumps.]

The parents of American-born Taliban fighter John Walker Lindh … asked the president to show mercy during the Christmas season by commuting her son’s sentence.

    Umm….

Anyone else’s irony meter getting twitchy here?

Good call “NukemHill”…to paraphrase a quote, “tolerance” is the last refuse of a scoundrel. He should have been put in front of a firing squad.

  5. jaymaster Says:

I’d be ok with a pardon.

But only if we flew him back to the shit soaked spot in Afghanistan where we found him.

And then leave the responsibility on him to find his way back to the modern world.

    Inshallah.

  6. gloamer Says:

have we ever found out exactly what lindh did as a taliban fighter? how naïve was this guy? if he knew what he was doing the 20 year sentence is not unreasonable.

on the other hand, this will make a better commutation in 4 or 8 years when obama leaves office.
